Erika Haley King is a grant writer with experience working in the nonprofit and arts sectors. She lives and works in Berkeley, CA. She received certificates in state and foundation, as well as in advanced federal grant proposal writing, from the Arizona State University (ASU) Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation. She is a passionate grant writer for causes that educate, celebrate diversity, build empathy, and contribute to a more equitable world.

While working at the Triton Museum of Art, located in Santa Clara, CA, she wrote proposals awarded by the California Arts Council, SVCreates, the Institute of Museum and Library Studies (IMLS), and a variety of corporate and private foundations.

This funding supported educational programming for underserved communities and the curation of innovative art exhibitions, many of which featured artists historically underrepresented in museum spaces. She also secured multi-year federal grants for the Triton to steward its collection of California art and to increase public access. Before working at the Triton, she was a grants associate at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, one of the largest community foundations in the world, where she gained significant experience with grant compliance.

Erika earned her bachelor’s degree in art history and liberal studies from Bennington College and received her master’s degree in art history from SOAS in London. She has worked as a volunteer grant writer for ArtSpan and Tibetan Aid Project. She was also an all-purpose volunteer for the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) and the Foundation for Contemporary Art in Accra, Ghana.
